Choosing the Right Format

For Mobile Apps (iOS/Android)

Recommended: PNG

Mobile platforms require specific pixel dimensions:

  • iOS: PNG files at exact sizes (120px, 180px, etc.)
  • Android: PNG files for different densities (mdpi, hdpi, etc.)

For Web/PWA

Recommended: PNG + SVG

  • Use PNG for favicons and app manifest icons
  • Use SVG for inline icons and responsive elements

For Desktop Apps (Windows)

Recommended: ICO + PNG

  • ICO for Windows native integration
  • PNG for cross-platform consistency

For Desktop Apps (macOS)

Recommended: PNG

  • macOS uses ICNS format, but PNG works for most cases
  • Use highest resolution (1024px) for best results
